Implementasi Psikoedukasi Berbasis Teori Kognitif dalam Upaya Pencegahan Bullying di Pesantren Al-Majidiyah Pamekasan

This study aims to analyze the implementation of cognitive theory-based psychoeducation as an effort to prevent bullying at Al-Majidiyah Islamic Boarding School (Pesantren), Pamekasan. Bullying remains a serious issue in the pesantren environment, largely due to a misguided understanding of “discipline” practices by senior students. Psychoeducational intervention was employed as a strategy to restructure students’ cognitive perceptions, grounded in the cognitive theories of Albert Ellis and Aaron Beck, and supported by Bandura’s social cognitive theory. This research utilized a descriptive qualitative method, with data collected through observations, in-depth interviews, and documentation. The findings reveal that bullying behavior at the pesantren includes verbal abuse, minor physical aggression, and psychological pressure, all driven by strong seniority culture and imbalanced power relations. The psychoeducational program, conducted through character development classes over one month, successfully increased students’ awareness of empathy, emotional regulation, and rejection of violence. Positive impacts of the program include a decrease in reported bullying cases, the establishment of student-led anti-violence forums, and improved communication between students and mentors. However, challenges remain, particularly resistance from some senior students and limited resources. This study recommends the integration of psychoeducational content into pesantren’s character education curriculum to ensure its sustainability and effectiveness as a cognitive-based model for bullying prevention.
