Membangun Kepemimpinan Berkelanjutan: Strategi Perencanaan Suksesi di Pesantren Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata
Abstrak
This study aims to reveal how the leadership succession planning process is carried out at the Mambaul Ulum Bata-Bata Pamekasan Madura Islamic boarding school. This study uses a qualitative case study approach, in which the researcher seeks to uncover the meaning behind succession planning in traditional pesantren. Interviews, observations and documentation serve as media to collect research data. The data analysis was carried out through stages of data collection, presentation, and reduction and ends with withdrawal conclusion. The results of the study show that the predecessor and the next leader realize that the role of the successor is needed and must prepare it properly. However, the systems and mechanisms of succession planning in Islamic boarding schools show differences from succession theories in companies as profit institutions. The predecessor carried out 3 processes at the succession stage, namely: preparing potential successors, developing potential successors, and preparing to hand over the leadership throne. Succession planning is more emphasized on the preparation of successors from the personal side with the provision of religious knowledge and a sincere attitude to serve. Because the basic assumption of the pesantren leader is the servant of the santri and the people in general. This belief continues to be maintained and nurtured by the kiai in developing the soul and mentality of their successors.
